Mandelica 5%'s Power Boost
Overview
Mandelica works on two levels, as a gentle exfoliant and as an antibacterial. As an exfoliant, it's shown to smooth fine lines and wrinkles from the skin while supporting healthy exfoliation. It's also a safe alternative to steroids and hydroquinone for the treatment of hyperpigmentation. Mandelica penetrates the epidermis slowly and uniformly because of its large molecular size, making it ideal for sensitive skin types and those suffering with acne, rosacea and pigmentation. It is also safe for all skin tones.
Mandelica also has antibacterial properties which are beneficial in the treatment of oily and acne prone skin. For adults who suffer from acne and want to fight wrinkles too. Glutathione is a natural substance that plays crucial roles in many body processes and is produced by the liver from three amino acids, glycine, cysteine and glutamic acid. Glutathione can also be found in foods Asparagus, Avocado, Broccoli, Garlic and Spinach. Our formulations are packed with barrier supportive ingredients including high levels of antioxidants to support the skin matrix while undergoing acne treatment. We added L-Glutathione to replenish this beneficial antioxidant which will benefit both aging and acneic skin types by protecting them from free radical damage. L-Glutahione is also included in C21.
In addition to L-Glutathione we also added Allantoin. Originally derived from Comfrey Root, Allantoin is a skin active ingredient with keratolytic, moisturizing, soothing, and anti-irritant properties that promote the renewal of epidermal cells while accelerating wound healing. Allantoin is actually approved by the FDA as a healing modality for cuts and scrapes. Because this ingredient is approved by the FDA there are heaps of data supporting its soothing and healing properties. Allantoin is also found in Conditioning Hydra-Mist and Pore [Re] Balancing toner.
L-Glutathione
Glutathione is a tri-peptide that contains an unusual peptide linkage between the amine group of cysteine (which is attached by normal peptide linkage to a glycine) and the carboxyl group of the glutamate side-chain. It is an antioxidant, preventing damage to important cellular components caused by reactive oxygen species such as free radicals and peroxides.
Glutathione is the most abundant intracellular thiol (sulfur containing compound) and low molecular weight tripeptide found in cells. Every cell in the bodys first line of defense is Glutathione. It plays a crucial role in function and multiplication of lymphocytes to combat organisms like bacteria, viruses and parasites.
Without proper levels of Glutathione, researchers found that our cells literally die, by undergoing a process known as programmed cell death or lipid peroxidation. Unfortunately, as we age our Glutathione levels decline. Glutathione (GSH) is concentrated in the liver, where it functions as a key detoxifying agent. It is a naturally occurring antioxidant in the cell. Other lesser antioxidants like vitamin C and E depend on glutathione for their supportive function. This makes L-Glutathinoe a hero addition to Mandelica.
Allantoin
The beneficial effects on the skin of Allantoin are well documented. Allantoin is a mild keratolytic agent that dissolves the intercellular cement that holds cornified cells together, helping the natural desquamation of stratum corneum and increasing skin smoothness. The moisturizing effect results from its ability to increase the water bounded to the intercellular matrix and keratin, thereby softening skin and making the skin look healthier. The soothing, anti-irritant and skin protectant effect are due to the ability of Allantoin to form complexes and neutralize many irritant and sensitizing agents. Allantoin enhances epidermal cell-proliferation, promotes the regeneration of damaged epitelium and accelerates wound healing. An excellent choice for Acne prone skin!
